Abbie is a dedicated and passionate Speech Pathologist with a strong commitment to supporting children’s communication development. She graduated with honours from the University of Newcastle in 2018 and has since actively pursued continuous learning. Abbie’s skills include:
- Early Language Development: Abbie specialises in helping young children build strong communication skills. She utilises engaging strategies to address challenges and promote language milestones. Abbie offers evidence-based techniques to enhance fluency and communication confidence and is trained in the Hanen ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ program and the LAMP words for life approach to AAC.
- Key worker approach: As a keyworker, Abbie can act as your child’s central point of contact to create and ensure a collaborative approach with your child’s entire support network, assist with navigating the NDIS and embed strategies into everyday routines across natural environments.
- Supporting Children with Experiences of Trauma: Abbie understands the impact of trauma on communication development. She provides compassionate and effective therapy to support children who have experienced trauma and supports them to be actively involved in developing goals and expectations for therapy.
- Mealtime support: Abbie can assess mealtime and swallowing concerns and develop strategies for safe and enjoyable mealtimes.
- Stuttering: Abbie has undertaken training in the Lidcombe Program to support young children who stutter. Abbie is passionate about using evidence based approaches to support children to communicate clearly and confidently.
- Leadership: Abbie is a passionate leader and mentor. She has experience supervising and guiding both student Speech Pathologists and new graduates, fostering their professional development. Additionally, Abbie has experience managing teams of multi-disciplinary therapists, ensuring collaborative care for her clients.
